Four Social Security Themes for 2026

Thursday, February 5 at 4:00 PM ET/1:00 PM PT

How should you be talking to people about Social Security these days? Can retirees still count on it? Will benefits have to be cut? Does it still make sense to claim later? People approaching retirement are very curious about Social Security, and this creates the perfect opportunity for financial advisors to educate and advise.

In this webinar we’ll be discussing four key themes for 2026:

  • Gen X is coming for their Social Security: how is this generation different? The last of the Boomers turn 62 in 2026. Next comes Gen X, a new generation with different experiences and a different set of financial needs and resources. Are you ready to help them plan for their retirement?
  • Trust fund exhaust date draws nearer: a look at the latest reform proposals: The Social Security Trust Fund is expected to run dry in 2033. The Senators elected in 2026 will still be in office when that happens. Will they pass legislation in time to avoid benefit cuts? What are some of the reform proposals being considered?
  • New thoughts on Social Security claiming: beyond the math: Why do so many people claim early and wind up with a permanently reduced benefit? Is it ever a good idea to pursue the non-maximum claiming scenario? How does client happiness figure into the equation? Are we talking about present or future happiness? When Social Security claiming gets messy, you can help your clients sort it all out.
  • SSA service still bad: how can you help your clients? They mean well, they really do. But SSA workers are stretched thin and they can’t know all the rules. Financial advisors are fulfilling a vital role in answering client questions and helping them expedite their SSA interactions. We’ll give you some tips on how to do this.
